This article deals with the signs of deviation from the norms of Islam in the burials rituals of the early Muslims of the Crimea during the formation of Islam in the Golden Horde. The author uses the examples of necropolises, studied in the Crimea. Examples of violations of the rules of Janazah, compares the identified violations with the norms of classical Islam are given. Author makes attempts to explain such deviations. The signs identified and presented in the publication prove that at the early stage of adoption of Islam, the Turkic population selectively preserved pagan elements in the burial rites within the adats. Gradually, such deviations from the norm, as Islam became stronger in the region, are found less and less often, but even at the turn of the XVI–XVII centuries, violations of the rules of burial in accordance with Muslim traditions persisted in Crimea.
