The article is devoted to the description of the experience of the representation of archaeological and ethnographic heritage in the Republic of Khakassia. After the objects of cultural heritage are identified, investigated and published, a period of oblivion begins for the majority of them, and for some – the continuation of "life" as an object of museum display. 10 archaeological museums were established in Khakassia from 1996 to 2011. Within 200 hectares of museum areas there are more than 3 thousand archaeological monuments: barrow fields, rock art monuments, remains of ancient settlements, fortifications, sculptures. The peculiarity of the culture of the peoples of Khakassia is the absence of a clear boundary between archaeological and ethnographic heritage. Many archaeological sites, which acted as objects of worship in ancient times, have not lost their importance in later periods. That is why in archeological museums of Khakassia conditions for presentation of various forms of ethnographic and folklore heritage are created: museum holidays are held, yurt complexes are created, excursion and educational programs are developed.
