Archaeological Research at the Tsarev Settlement of the Volgograd Region in 2023

The article presents the excavation materials of the pottery shop from the Tsarev settlement for producing glazed tiles from kashin and clay, discovered in 2021 during the geophysical research of the monument. A comprehensive analysis of the kiln supplies is given, with an explanation of the functional purpose of each of their types. A detailed description of the kiln design and its technological features is given. The type of kiln and its application option have been determined. The constructive differences between the kilns of the Tsarev settlement and the kilns of the Selitrennoye settlement are shown. Information is provided on the chemical colouring agent for glazes, first found on the Lower Volga Golden Horde sites. Based on the numismatic material found at the excavation, a chronological description of the production site of the Tsarev settlement is given.
