EPITAPHY ON THE MONUMENT TO ISENEI YAUSHEV: SOURCE ANALYSIS

The article is dedicated to a source study of a 17th century epigraphic monument erected on the grave of Isenei son Semenei son of Bagish son of Yaush. Ancient tombstones featuring texts written in Arabic script play an important role in study of the history, culture and language of the Tatar people. The authors managed to discover approximately 1600 Tatar epigraphic monuments in the Atninsky district of the Tatarstan Republic in 2016. Isenei Yaushev was a great-grandson of the famous prince Yaush, hance the special value and interest of this gravestone for historical science. This epigraphic monument is significant not only because it was erected in honour of a renowned historical figure, but also due to the fact that it was crated and inscribed by master Kulmuhammad son of
Kilmuhammad.
