Abstract

The paper discusses the processes associated with the interaction of the Mordva-Teryuhanes with the Russian Christian world around them. The Mordva-Teryuhanes is considered to be the most "Russifi ed" part of the Mordovian community. According to sources, the Teryuhanes had close contacts with the Russian population from the period of the 13th-14th centuries. Despite this, according to archaeology, the Mordva-Teryuhanes had preserved their pagan traditions until the beginning of the 20th century.
