The article is devoted to the general characteristic of the fi nal stage in the existence of the Ratsky archaeological complex, located 20 km east of Kursk. In the 1st fl oor XIV century on the site of the Slav–ic–Russian settlement, a large Horde center with an area of about 35 hectares is formed, with its forti–fi ed part being no less than 15 hectares. The limits of the complex are determined by numerous fi nds related to their origin with the Horde. Among them there are individual items of an elitist nature (for example, a gold ring with an Arabic inscription). The Ratsky complex was probably the administrative center of the Kursk Darkness, known from written sources, and ceased to exist in the 60s. XIV century.
