The paper presents the results of an interdisciplinary study of fragments of ceramic dishes and samples of prospective clay raw materials. The object of the analytical study were fragments of red clay non–pouring articles obtained during the excavation of the pottery workshop No. 9 of the Selitrennoye ancient settlement. In addition, experimental samples made of clays collected in diff erent parts of the Siltry Site were subjected to analysis. Studies of all samples were carried out by several methods: thermal treatment, binocular microscopy, chemical X–ray fl uorescence analysis, macroscopic analysis. The authors concluded that the RFA method showed a coincidence of the chemical composition between the experimental samples and ceramic products. The results obtained make it possible to determine the sources of raw materials for the production of ceramic products of workshops located on the "skull fi eld" of the Selitrennoye ancient settlement.
