ARCHAEOLOGICAL MONUMENTS OF THE GOLDEN HORDE PERIOD IN THE BITYUG RIVER REGION

Abstract

Archaeological monuments of the 14th–early 15th centuries are located on the periphery of the Golden Horde in the Middle Don in the basin of the Bityug River (the left tributary of the Don River). The article considers diff erent types of monuments: mausoleums, burials in mounds, ground burials, settlements with Russian ceramics. The territorial correlation of monuments is analyzed, the problem of their ethno–cultural affi liation is considered. The hypothesis on the coexistence of ethnically diverse population groups in the microdistrict under consideration is substantiated. Horde borderland in the Don region.
