THE MUSLIM MONUMENTS OF BAKHCHISARAY AND AT THE AREA IN THE DESCRIPTION OF A.S. UVAROV

Abstract

A.S. Uvarov in the frame of big project “Studies on antiquities of Southern Russia and Black Sea Coasts” planned to make a review of archeological sites of the Mountain Crimea. That work remains unfi nished. The manuscript is currently held by State Historical Museum, at the department of manuscripts and early printed books. A.S. Uvarov mainly emphasized the Christian and Antique monuments. However, he didn`t lose sight also several Muslim objects, in particular situated in Bakhchisaray and at the area. He briefl y mentioned the Khan palace. In detail, he described mausoleum of Mengli Giray in Salachik. On the Chufut–Kale, he emphasized the durbe of Dzhanike-Hanim − daughter of Tokhtamysh, died in 1437. This is one of the earliest review of that monument of Golden Horde time. A.S. Uvarov analyzed history of construction of the Durbe, it`s place in system of Golden Horde monuments of southwest Crimea and local legends connected with mausoleum. In general, Uvarov`s perception of the monument is close to views of the modern researchers.
