Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to introduce into scientifi c discourse an iron cavalry spur with a wheel discovered at Bolgar fortified settlement during archaeological excavations in 2010. The item can characterize a part of the rider's equipment of the second half of the 13th – fi rst half of the 14th century intended for the execution of tactical cavalry attack manoeuvres associated with a spear strike of heavily-armed cavalry. The external features and material of the item allow the author to suggest primarily its functional and professional use.
