MUSEUMIFACTION OF FORTIFICATION SITES

Abstract

The author proposes a methodology for the reconstruction and subsequent museumifi cation of fortifi cations. It particularly concerns the sites constructed with the use of wood and earth. The work features the types of a series of fortifi cations, and methods for the determination their original appearance. Various technological methods of their construction in antiquity are also outlined. It is also stated that information from written sources and theoretical developments refl ected in the literature on fortifications should be used during their reconstruction.
