Abstract

The article presents a study of the design and text on a bronze Old Rus signet ring found on the outskirts of the Nikolskoye settlement, it dates back to the period since border of the X–XI centuries to 1365. The authors carried out a graphical analysis of the inscription engraved on the surface of the oval shield and proposed variants of its interpretation based on the rules of Old Russian grammar. The materials of the medieval settlement are indicative of the extensive trade and economic ties of the inhabitants of the Upper Amur river region in the XIII – XIV centuries with other regions of the Golden Horde, as well as with foreign countries, including Old Rus. It apparently belonged to a native of Old Rus and was used, according to the authors, to seal goods during their transportation along the medieval trade routes.
