Abstract

The article introduces into scientific discourse materials related to the VIII–V centuries BC and the last quarter of the I millennium BC – the beginning of the I millennium AD. Glukhoe I settlement is a monument of multiple settling, reflecting the development of traditions of making net-impressed pottery by the local population before the active development of the left bank of the Upper Volga region (including the Suda River basin) in in the middle of the I millennium BC by the bearers of the Vyatka-Vetluga culture of the Ananyino cultural and historical area, and later the appearance of representatives of the Dyakovo culture here. The site was discovered in 2020. The thickness of the cultural layer, recorded in test pits No. 1, 5, is 20-60 cm. During its examination, 43 archaeological objects were found, most of them fragments of ceramics. Finds from Glukhoe I shed light on the complicated process of cultural genesis in the Early Iron Age in the Mologa-Sheksna lowland during the formation of antiquities with net-impressed pottery in the course of the I millennium BC and archaeological cultures with late Dyakovo elements at the turn of the millennium. Some of the small fragments with a knobby surface and grit-matter in the molding mass, found at the site, can be related to the early medieval ware made at the end of the I millennium AD.
