ON THE QUESTION OF THE KHAN’S MOSQUE CONSTRUCTION TIME IN THE CITY OF KASIMOV, BASED ON ARCHAEOLOGICAL STUDIES

The author considers the history of the archaeological studies of the Kasimov Khan’s Mosque. The results of archaeological studies in 2016 and 2020 are given. Archaeological research has revealed the time of construction of the Khan’s Mosque minaret, the architectural features of the construction of the minaret and the mosque building have been identifi ed. Building horizons associated with the construction, restoration and completion of the building also have been found out. The foundation of the mosque and the minaret were studied and the depth of its occurrence was revealed. As a result of archaeological research, it was proved that the minaret and mosque were built in the second half of the XVI century, during the reign of Khan Shahghali. Part of the original mosque building, namely part of the western wall and the roof were destroyed in 1762, and in 1768 the mosque building was restored. In the XIX century the second fl oor was completed and put an metal roof with a dome.
