Archaeological Circle – Time to Be Surprised

Abstract

The history of the archaeological circle of Kazan State University in the 1980s is considered in the article. The events in the archaeological circle are described through the personal perception of the author and show the atmosphere that was characteristic of the student environment both within the walls of the university and in the field of archaeological work. The fates of many modern Russian archaeologists are somehow connected with the Kazan archaeological circle, where a scientific school was formed and the scientific direction of future research was determined. The traditions that existed in the circle had a huge impact on its members and then replicated where university graduates began to work.
