Abstract

Beloglazovo hillfort is one of the few Vyatka Ananyino monuments, the materials of which have been repeatedly used in the study of the Vyatka-Vetluga archaeological culture of the Ananyino Cultural and Historical Region. The collection from this hillfort was refl ected by V.N. Markov when characterizing the ceramic traditions of the Early Iron Age hillforts in the Vyatka river basin. However, the time of existence of the Beloglazovsky hillfort in the context of the chronological periodization of the Ananyino Cultural and Historical Region has not been determined. The paper addresses the topographic, cultural and chronological features of
this hillfort. An analysis of the ornamental motifs and compositions of the Ananyino vessels, as well as the individual details of the design of a bronze socket from the cultural layer of Beloglazovo hillfort has allowed to attribute the time of its origination to the 7th – 6th centuries BC. The presence of a textile arabesque on the ceramics from the hillfort testifi es to the existence of contacts between the Ananyino population of the Vyatka river basin with the carriers of the Akozino-Akhmylovo culture of the Ananyino Cultural and Historical Region.
