ARCHAEOLOGICAL MATERIALS IN SCHOOL, MUNICIPAL AND LIBRARY MUSEUMS IN TATARSTAN

Abstract

The article considers the issues related to the storage and display of archaeological artifacts in school and municipal museums in the Republic of Tatarstan. Many of them feature interesting archaeological collections compiled in the late twentieth century. Until today, they remain scarcely studied and practically not taken into account. The reorganization of the museum system in Tatarstan at the beginning of the 21st century resulted to problems associated with the scientifi c and methodological support of municipal museums, especially in terms of activities on the establishment of expositions and working with fund collections. The most problematic issues for municipal museums are those related to archaeology. This is largely due to the lack of interaction between archaeologists and museum staff , as well as the issues of storage and scientifi c processing of artifacts in such museums.
